Kurt Beschorner

University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Beschorner's research focuses core competencies in whole-body biomechanics and biotribology to prevent occupational and clinical falls. Dr. Beschorner's current research topics include:

  1. Developing and applying innovative methods to model and assess the tribological interaction between shoe and floor surfaces in order to prevent slips and falls.
  2. Identifying the personal and environmental factors that contribute to falls from ladders and developing strategies to reduce these falls.
  3. Assessing the negative effects of multifocal lens glasses (bifocals/progressive lens glasses) on walking balance and identifying compensation strategies that improve balance.
