Chantal Gauvin

Chantal Gauvin is a scientific professional at the IRSST. After obtaining a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnique Montréal, she worked for several years in industry as a Research and Development engineer and a research associate at the National Research Council Canada (NRC). Since her arrival at the IRSST in 2005, Ms. Gauvin’s interests have focused on mechanical risks and the human factors related to protective equipment. Her work concerns mainly cut and puncture resistance of materials, the grip and dexterity associated with protective gloves, as well as the slip resistance of footwear. She is a member of two ASTM International committees: Committee F23 on Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment, and Committee F13 on Pedestrian/Walkway Safety and Footwear.
